ECOA Codes: full reference
Declares each consumer's legal relationship to the account: who is liable, who merely has access, and who is being removed. Each code has its own page covering what it means, when to report it, and the cross-field rules it has to satisfy.
Validation Rules
- Must be a valid ECOA code
- Joint accounts require J1/J2 segments
- Cannot change from individual to joint without proper process
- X is the designator for a deceased consumer — a deceased consumer is NOT reported through the Consumer Information Indicator
