B027Deceased Indicator Without Supporting Status
Consumer Information Indicator marks the consumer deceased but the account status conflicts
Field 33 is a coded field. If the value is rejected rather than malformed, check it against the consumer information indicators reference.
Description
When the Consumer Information Indicator reports a consumer as deceased, the account handling should be consistent (for example, the account is typically being closed or settled). A deceased indicator paired with ongoing current-and-active reporting is contradictory and should be reviewed.
Common Causes
- Deceased flag set on the wrong consumer of a joint account
- Indicator not cleared after correction
How to Fix
- 1Confirm the deceased indicator applies to the correct consumer
- 2On joint accounts, use the J1/J2 Consumer Information Indicator for the right party
- 3Align account status with the reported condition

Metro 2 code reference
A rejected value is usually a wrong code rather than a wrong format. Every CRRG code set has a per-code page with its meaning and cross-field rules. Metro 2 codes: the complete cheat sheet puts all of them on one page.
