B016Invalid Portfolio Type
The Portfolio Type code is not one of the valid Metro 2 values
Field 14 is a coded field. If the value is rejected rather than malformed, check it against the portfolio types reference.
Description
The Portfolio Type field must contain a single valid character: C (line of credit), I (installment), M (mortgage), O (open), or R (revolving). Any other value is rejected. Portfolio Type also drives which other fields are required, so an invalid value cascades into downstream edits.
Common Causes
- Mapping an internal product code directly without translation
- Lowercase or blank Portfolio Type
- Using a value from a different field's code set
How to Fix
- 1Map every internal product to one of C, I, M, O, R
- 2Uppercase the value and ensure it is exactly one character
- 3Confirm Portfolio Type agrees with Account Type

A rejected value is usually a wrong code rather than a wrong format. Every CRRG code set has a per-code page with its meaning and cross-field rules. Metro 2 codes: the complete cheat sheet puts all of them on one page.
