What Compliance Condition Code XD means

    • Exists because only one Compliance Condition Code may be reported per record per cycle -- XD is how you say XA and XB at the same time.
    • Both underlying conditions must genuinely be true. Do not use XD as a catch-all.
    • Carries the same scoring-exclusion consequence as XB while the dispute is open.
    • When the dispute resolves but the account stays closed, move to XE or XH depending on the outcome.

    When to report XD

    • 1A cardholder closes their account and, in the same letter, disputes the final balance.
    • 2A consumer requests closure of a line of credit and disputes the reported delinquency history.
    • 3An account is closed at the consumer's request while an identity-related direct dispute is still under investigation.

    Reporting rules

    • Populate Date Closed, exactly as you would for XA.
    • Do not report XA in one cycle and XB in the next as a substitute -- the second overwrites the first and the closure signal is lost.
    • Move off XD as soon as the investigation concludes.

Codes and fields that must agree

A file can be structurally valid and still be wrong. These are the cross-field conditions Compliance Condition Code XD has to satisfy.

    • Requires Date Closed to be populated, inheriting the XA rule.
    • Only one CCC per record. XD exists precisely so you do not have to choose between XA and XB.
    • Successor codes: XE if the consumer disagrees with the outcome, XH if the investigation is complete and settled.
