Compliance Condition Code XE means "Closed at Consumer's Request and FCRA Investigation Complete - Consumer Disagrees". The consumer asked for the account to be closed, your dispute investigation has finished, and the consumer still disagrees with the result. It is reported in Compliance Condition Code (Field 32) of the Base Segment, 2 characters at position 215.

What Compliance Condition Code XE means
- The combination of XA with the completed-investigation-consumer-disagrees state.
- Both facts must hold. If the account was not closed at the consumer's request, report XC instead.
- Typically the last compliance condition a closed, disputed tradeline carries before XR.
When to report XE
- 1A consumer closes a credit card, disputes the final late payment, and rejects your investigation findings.
- 2A borrower requests closure of an account and continues to contest the charge-off amount after review.
- 3A closed retail account remains contested after a documented direct-dispute investigation.
Reporting rules
- Populate Date Closed.
- Do not report XE before the investigation actually concludes -- while it is open the correct code is XD.
- Clear with XR if the consumer subsequently withdraws the dispute.
Codes and fields that must agree
