    Consumer Information Indicators: full reference

Attaches a consumer-level condition such as bankruptcy, receivership, reaffirmation, or lease assumption to the tradeline, and changes how it purges. Each code has its own page covering what it means, when to report it, and the cross-field rules it has to satisfy.

    Validation Rules

    • Must be a valid CRRG Consumer Information Indicator if provided
    • Must match the bankruptcy chapter actually filed
    • W, X, Y (legacy reaffirmation) and Z (deceased) were retired and must not be reported after April 2021. They are absent above for that reason, and the runtime validator already rejects all four — this is a retirement, not an undocumented code

    Examples

    AH

    Common Errors

    • Reporting a discharge code before the discharge is granted
    • Leaving a bankruptcy indicator attached after using Q to remove it
    • Carrying a retired W/X/Y/Z value forward from a pre-2021 mapping table

    Tips & Best Practices

    • Chapter 7 petition = A, Chapter 13 petition = D
    • Q removes a previously reported bankruptcy or receivership indicator
    • A deceased consumer is reported with ECOA Code X, not with a CII
