Validation Rules
- Must be a valid CRRG Consumer Information Indicator if provided
- Must match the bankruptcy chapter actually filed
- W, X, Y (legacy reaffirmation) and Z (deceased) were retired and must not be reported after April 2021. They are absent above for that reason, and the runtime validator already rejects all four — this is a retirement, not an undocumented code
Examples
AH Common Errors
- Reporting a discharge code before the discharge is granted
- Leaving a bankruptcy indicator attached after using Q to remove it
- Carrying a retired W/X/Y/Z value forward from a pre-2021 mapping table
Tips & Best Practices
- Chapter 7 petition = A, Chapter 13 petition = D
- Q removes a previously reported bankruptcy or receivership indicator
- A deceased consumer is reported with ECOA Code X, not with a CII
